Although Epigone Jazz Ensemble sit squarely on the Jazz spectrum, due to their quantum nature, their precise key and tempo can never be known at the same time.

In the five years or so since their noisy, loveless conception, their tongue in cheek attitude to the more pompous elements of the Jazz world has probably done them few favours. Indeed, for the most part they remain unknown, unloved and unbooked. Despite this, they continue to play with spirit, vigour and a liberal sprinkling of Jazz dust.

Their non-typical repertoire has left audiences Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, although the average age of their audiences and a faulty gas boiler may have contributed to this confusion.

Their combination of formal musical education (Luke on Sax; Michael on Keyboards) and occasional evening classes (Ago on Bass; Nick on Percussion) has spawned an illegitimate utopian lovechild that has been sulking in its lair for the past two years, bingeing on Netflix and crisps and waiting for the phone to ring.

Finally, they are unleashed again. Please give a warm or lukewarm welcome (delete as applicable) to Epigone Jazz Ensemble!

ABOUT EPIGONE JAZZ ENSEMBLE

Joking aside, Epigone Jazz Ensemble have a collective musical experience of more than a century, playing almost every style of music. Our shared love, however, is Jazz from all eras.

In describing our music, audiences have used adjectives such as jazzy, swinging, cool, funky, tight, heavy, modern, original, refreshing and woof!

Almost everywhere we play, we are asked to play again, which must say something about our style of playing and vast repertoire. We have played regularly at well-known venues such as Mama Liz's, Stamford, Lincs. We have also played at events as varied as small festivals, (such as at Woodfordstock, Woodford, Northants, in aid of Cransley Hospice), family gatherings, coffee shop gigs, small jazz clubs, weddings and corporate events. We are now beginning to attract 'regular' fans, who show up time after time to hear us play.

Epigone Jazz Ensemble plays Cool Jazz from the 1920s to the 2020s - from American Songbook Standards to Blue Note Classics and from Latin Jazz hits to funky Modern Jazz interpretations of Jazz Classics. We usually play as a quartet of bass, keyboards, sax and percussion, although we have also featured other talented guests and can play as a quintet or more. In 2022, we played as part of an octet!

For 2023, we are hoping to host talented guest vocalists/singers in order to broaden our popular appeal.

Our plans for 2023 are to broaden both our appeal and our market, playing to as many people as possible. In order to achieve this, we are now taking bookings for events of all types and sizes:

FESTIVALS
JAZZ CLUBS
JAZZ NIGHTS
VINTAGE EVENTS
MUSIC VENUES
PUBS
REATAURANTS
ANNIVERSARIES
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
PRIVATE PARTIES
WEDDINGS
RECEPTIONS
CORPORATE EVENTS
RESIDENCIES

Any help you can give us in achieving these goals is, of course, appreciated.
