Epigone Jazz Ensemble are happy to play at all kinds of events. We have a huge repertoire of tunes and can tailor set lists to suit a particular audience.We play Cool Jazz from the 1920s to the 2020s - from American Songbook Standards to Blue Note Classics and from Latin Jazz hits to funky Modern Jazz interpretations of Jazz Classics.

We are happy to play 'background jazz' for your event, or crank things up and give your guests an evening to remember.We are hoping to feature guest vocalists for our 2023 season, which we hope will broaden our appeal and make Jazz more accessible you younger audiences.

Our standard gig format is two sets of 45 minutes, with a 30 minute interval. Depending on repertoire, this can be anything from 15 to 20 tunes. If you have favourite tunes (for examply for an anniversary or wedding reception) please let us know in advance and we can usually accommodate this in our sets.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

We need free access to set up and sound check in time for our performance. This is usually around an hour, minimum.

We also need sufficient space to play comfortably and hear one another.

We will need sufficient power sockets for amplification, music stand lighting etc. (usually 2 double mains sockets as a minimum).

If practical, we will require reserved parking within a short walking distance of the event for unloading and loading equipment, although we are happy to park further away once we have unloaded.

If you can provide somewhere secure, just off stage, for us to store cases, equipment, phones, keys, coats etc. we would appreciate this.

We also require 4 structurally sound chairs with a minimum of 4 legs each, and a hard floor we can set up on.

We are unable to set up or play on bare gravel or grass. As a rule, we won't play in the rain, or snow, or in a freezing cold marquee, or in blazing sunshine. Remember, we're playing for upto three hours. If in doubt, please ask.

CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENTS

For most bookings, we require a signed Contract of Engagement. For larger events, such as weddings, we will require a non-returnable (unless we have to cancel) deposit at time of booking.

For large formal events, such as wedding receptions, large parties etc., where we need to arrive early and/or leave late, we may request that hot or cold drinks be provided - coffee, tea, even a free pint is much appreciated. If you are able, we also appreciate something to eat. We don't expect a three course meal, but a tray of sarnies would be nice!

We are happy to dress formally or semi-formally, depending on your requirements. We are also happy for you to photograph or video our performance, provided this isn't intrusive and we are credited as 'Epigone Jazz Ensemble' on all posted media.

If we feel threatened in any way by your guests or staff, we reserve the right to end the performance immediately and leave the venue. Full payment in accordance with the Contract of Engagement will be payable before we leave.
